John Wooden - Peace of Mind:
"The kind of success that God cares about."
There was a time when I never imagined that a simple journal would become one of the most meaningful tools in my walk with God.
Like many people, I spent years moving through life (I owned a retail flower shop in Tempe, Az for 33+ years), busy with work, responsibilities, and the next thing on the calendar. I believed in God, but I didn't truly know what it meant to have a daily relationship with Him.
Then everything changed.
After my mom had a quick 3rd battle with cancer and passed away, life became quieter—but in that quiet, the questions grew louder. Grief has a way of slowing us down. It strips away distractions and reminds us what really matters. In the middle of that season of loss, I found myself searching for something deeper than answers. I was searching for God.
That search became the beginning of my faith journey.
I started opening my Bible. I began writing my prayers in my journal instead of just thinking them. I filled page after page with questions, fears, gratitude, Scripture, and moments when I sensed God gently speaking to my heart. Those pages became conversations—not because I heard an audible voice, but because I began to recognize His wisdom, His peace, and His presence in ways I had never noticed before.
My journal became a place where God met me.
It wasn't perfect. Some days my pages were full of hope. Other days they were stained with tears. Sometimes I celebrated answered prayers. Sometimes I simply wrote, "God, I don't understand."
Yet every page reminded me of one truth:
God is faithful, even when life isn't easy.
Over time, journaling stopped being something I did. It became part of who I am. It helped me see that God often works quietly—in ordinary mornings (either dockside, Mom's old leather reading chair or on my couch in Solana Beach), in my simple prayers, unexpected blessings, and lessons hidden inside everyday life.
That's why I created the God Chat Community.
This community isn't built around having all the answers. It's built around walking together. It's a place where we can encourage one another, grow in faith, discover wisdom, ask honest questions, and remind each other that none of us has to journey alone.
Whether you're taking your very first step toward God, returning after years away, or have been walking with Him for decades, you have a place here.
My prayer is that every journal page becomes an opportunity to notice God's fingerprints on your life. That every podcast, devotion, prayer, and conversation points you back to His love. And that one day you'll look back through your own journal and realize that God was writing a beautiful story all along—even on the pages you thought were broken.
Thank you for being here.
I'm honored to share this journey with you, and I can't wait to see what God writes on the next page of your story.
Welcome to God Chat. Welcome to my journaling journey. Most of all, welcome home.
